About Jimmie Robinson

His Early Life

Jimmie Robinson grew up in Oakland, California. He went to schools like Mosswood Arts, Renaissance Middle School, and Concordia High School.

His Career in Comics

After working as a commercial artist and starting a family, Jimmie Robinson began his comic book career in 1994. He published eight issues of a comic called Cyberzone through his own company, Jet Black Graphiks. This was a science fiction story about a female bounty hunter named Amanda Shane and her smart gun. In 1996, Image Comics published a four-issue spin-off series called Amanda & Gunn.

In 1997, he created Code Blue, a medical drama comic. His next series was Adventures of Evil & Malice, which was a colorful comic for all ages. It was about the daughters of a super-villain who were secretly heroes. Robinson then worked as an artist for Ché Gilson's Avigon, first published in 2000.

In 2006, he started the action-comedy series Bomb Queen. This comic is about a super-villain who rules a city where criminals are welcome. The first series was very popular, leading to many more mini-series.

In 2008, he wrote a special comic for Marvel Comics called What if? Wolverine: Enemy of the State. He also worked with writer Derek McCulloch to illustrate T. Runt!, a children's book about a small Tyrannosaurus rex. This book was published in 2009.

From 2013 to 2014, Robinson created Five Weapons. This comic is about a 13-year-old boy who goes to a special school. At this school, children of assassins learn their family's trade. It was so popular that a second series followed. In 2015, he started The Empty, a science-fiction story. It follows two different women who try to save a dying world.

Jimmie Robinson received an Inkpot Award in 2015 at the San Diego Comic Convention International. This award celebrates people who have contributed a lot to comics. He was also chosen as one of the judges for the 2019 Eisner Awards, which are like the "Oscars" for comic books.
