Carlos Joaquín Correa, born on August 13, 1994, is a professional football player from Argentina. He plays as a forward, which means he helps score goals for his team. He currently plays for Botafogo, a club in Brazil. People often call him "El Tucu" because he comes from the Tucumán Province in Argentina.

Playing for Clubs
Starting at Estudiantes
Joaquín Correa was born in Juan Bautista Alberdi, Argentina. He started playing football at a young age. He was part of youth teams like River Plate and Renato Cesarini. Later, he joined the youth academy of Estudiantes.
He made his first appearance for the Estudiantes senior team on May 19, 2012. This was in a match against Banfield, where his team won 3-0.
Correa scored his first professional goal on May 10, 2014. It was the first goal in a 3-0 win against San Lorenzo. He also played regularly in the 2014 Copa Sudamericana tournament that year. He scored a goal in a 2-1 home win against Peñarol on October 15.
Moving to Sampdoria
On December 16, 2014, Correa moved to Italy to play for Serie A club Sampdoria. He signed a contract for four and a half years. He wore the number 8 shirt for the team.
He played his first game for Sampdoria on February 15, 2015. It was a 2-1 loss against Chievo. He didn't play much in his first season. For the next season, he changed his shirt number to 10 and started playing more often.
Correa scored his first goal in Italy on January 17, 2016. It was in a 2-1 loss against Carpi. He scored in the next two games as well. He ended the season with three goals.
Time at Sevilla
On July 10, 2016, Correa joined La Liga team Sevilla in Spain. He made his first appearance for Sevilla on August 17. This was in a game against Barcelona for the 2016 Supercopa de España.
He played his first game in the top Spanish league on August 20, 2016. Sevilla won that game 6-4 against Espanyol. On February 22, 2017, he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League. This was in a 2-1 win against Leicester City.
On September 17, 2017, he scored a goal that helped Sevilla draw 2-2 against Liverpool at their home stadium, Anfield.
Playing for Lazio
On August 1, 2018, Correa went back to Italy to join Lazio. He signed a five-year contract. He played his first game for Lazio on August 18, which was a 2-1 loss against Napoli. On September 26, 2018, he scored his first goal for Lazio in a 2-1 win against Udinese.
In the 2018–19 Coppa Italia cup competition, Correa scored a very important goal. This goal helped Lazio beat AC Milan and reach the final. In the final match, Correa scored the second goal in a 2-0 win against Atalanta. This was his first trophy with Lazio. In his first season, he played 44 games and scored 9 goals.
On October 10, 2019, he extended his contract with Lazio until 2024. On December 22, 2019, he played in Lazio's 3-1 win in the 2019 Supercoppa Italiana. This meant he won his second trophy with the club. In his second season, he played 35 games and scored 10 goals.
In his third and final season with Lazio, he played 38 games and scored 11 goals.
Joining Inter Milan
On August 26, 2021, Correa joined Inter Milan. He first joined on a one-year loan deal. After the loan, he was set to sign a three-year contract. On August 27, he played his first league game for Inter Milan. He came on as a substitute and scored two goals in a 3-1 win against Verona.
Loan to Marseille
On August 25, 2023, Correa went on a one-year loan to Marseille in France. He played twelve matches for this team in the Ligue 1 league. His loan period ended in 2024.
Playing for Botafogo
On June 10, 2025, Joaquín Correa signed with the Brazilian club Botafogo. He will play for them until the end of 2027.
Playing for Argentina
Joaquín Correa first played for the senior Argentina team on June 9, 2017. This was in a 1-0 win against their rivals Brazil in Melbourne. On June 13, he scored his first goal for Argentina. It was in a 6-0 friendly win against Singapore.
He was part of the Argentine team that won the 2021 Copa America tournament. He played in 3 games during that competition. He was also chosen for the 26-player squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, he had to miss the tournament due to an injury he got just five days before it started. Another player, Thiago Almada, took his place.
