Jodie Connor's Music Journey

Starting Out in Music

Jodie Connor went to Saddleworth School for high school. After that, she studied performing arts at Oldham College. Before becoming famous, Jodie worked as a receptionist during the day. At night and on weekends, she would perform and sing at different places.

In 2003, Jodie was a contestant on the TV show Pop Idol. This was a popular British talent show. The judges liked her early on, and she made it to the top fifty contestants. This gave her a chance to sing live on TV. However, she did not get enough votes to move forward. The judges gave her another chance in the Wildcard round, but she was not successful then either.

Big Hits and First Album

Jodie became well-known again in 2010. She sang on the song "Good Times" by the grime music group Roll Deep. She also helped write this song. On 2 May 2010, "Good Times" became the number one song on the UK Singles Chart. It stayed at the top for three weeks in a row! This was Jodie's first time on the charts. It was also Roll Deep's first song in the top 10.

After this success, Jodie appeared in music videos for "Electric Boogaloo (Find a Way)" by Wiley and "Higher State" by Bailey. Because of her breakthrough, she signed contracts with Polydor Records and Takeover Entertainment. She spent the rest of 2010 making songs for her first album.

On 16 January 2011, Jodie released her first solo song, "Now or Never", which featured Wiley. It reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart. On 20 February 2011, her second song, "Bring It", came out. This song featured Tinchy Stryder and reached number 11 on the UK R&B Chart.

In December 2010, Jodie shared that she would be working on her first album. She planned to work with songwriters Makeba Riddick and James Fauntleroy II in Los Angeles and New York City. Her album was planned for release at the end of 2012. The third song from the album, "Take You There", featured American rapper Busta Rhymes. It was released on 29 July 2012.
