Kwasi Esono Danquah III, born on September 14, 1986, is famous as Tinchy Stryder. He is a British rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is also an entrepreneur and investor.
Tinchy Stryder has released three solo albums. These include Star in the Hood (2007), Catch 22 (2009), and Third Strike (2010). He also has his own clothing line called Star in the Hood. He created a range of headphones and audio equipment with Goji Electronics.

Early Life and Education
Tinchy Stryder was born Kwasi Esono Danquah III in Accra, Ghana, on September 14, 1986. He moved to the United Kingdom in 1995.
In London, he went to St Bonaventure's Catholic School. He later studied Digital arts, Moving Image, and Animation at the University of East London. He started making music when he was 11 years old in 1997. After finishing his A-levels in 2006, he quickly began his business ventures.
Music Career
Tinchy Stryder's first recordings were in 1998. By 2000, he was on pirate radio with other artists like Dizzee Rascal and Wiley. From 2001, he was part of the grime group Ruff Sqwad. His stage name, Tinchy Stryder, comes from the video game Strider. He was called "Tinchy" because he is 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 meters) tall.
In 2002, Wiley formed the grime group Roll Deep. Tinchy Stryder and Dizzee Rascal were also members. They created a new type of music that came from garage. This music eventually became known as "grime." While with Roll Deep, Stryder performed songs like "U Were Always" in 2002. This song was later released on Roll Deep's album Street Anthems in 2009. He also appeared on their 2004 mixtape, Creeper Vol. 2.
Star in the Hood Album (2007)
Tinchy Stryder's first album, Star in the Hood, came out on August 13, 2007. It was released through Takeover Entertainment. The album featured two main singles: "Breakaway" (released April 9, 2007) and "Something About Your Smile" (released August 6, 2007). Another song, "Mainstream Money", was also released as an underground single in November 2007.
In 2008, Stryder released his first extended play (EP), Cloud 9 The EP, on March 31. Later that year, he worked with grime producer Maniac on the album Tinchy Stryder vs. Maniac, released on November 24, 2008. The song "Rollin" was the only single from this album. It was also included on his next solo album, Catch 22.
Catch 22 Album (2009)
Tinchy Stryder started working with English producer Fraser T Smith. Smith helped him create music that would appeal to a wider audience.
The single "Stryderman" was released on July 20, 2008. It was the first song from his album Catch 22. The second single, "Take Me Back", came out on January 19, 2009. His third single, "Number 1", was a collaboration with the hip-hop group N-Dubz. This song became a huge hit, reaching number 1 in the UK and Ireland.
The fourth single from Catch 22 was "Never Leave You", released on August 3, 2009. The album Catch 22 followed on August 17, 2009. "Never Leave You" also performed well on the charts. The final single from Catch 22 was "You're Not Alone", released in November 2009.
In February 2010, Tinchy Stryder went on his third headline tour. He invited singer Example and rapper JME to perform with him. He also performed at the famous Glastonbury Festival in England on June 27, 2010.
Third Strike Album (2010)
Tinchy Stryder's third solo album, Third Strike, was released on November 15, 2010. He started recording this album soon after finishing Catch 22. A promotional single, "Gangsta?", was released before the album.
He continued to work with Fraser T Smith on this album. English singer Taio Cruz also helped produce many of the songs. The album title was inspired by the video game Street Fighter III 3rd Strike. Third Strike features several other artists. These include English singer Amelle Berrabah, who also appeared on his previous album.
The album also features Taio Cruz and artists connected to Roc Nation. These include Canadian singer Melanie Fiona on "Let It Rain". American singers Alexis Jordan and Bridget Kelly are on "Take The World". The song "Game Over" features six different artists.
Later Singles (2011-2014)
The song "Spaceship" features English singer Dappy from N-Dubz. Tinchy Stryder performed this song at the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final. This made him the first rapper to perform at a UEFA Champions League final.
He then worked with Scottish DJs Calvin Harris and BURNS on the single "Off the Record". On January 3, 2012, Stryder released the video for "Bright Lights", which features English singer Pixie Lott. Another version of this song, "Bright Lights Part II", is on Pixie Lott's album Young Foolish Happy.
In July 2012, Stryder mentioned that the single "Help Me" would be released. The video for this song, featuring singer Camille Purcell, came out on August 15, 2012.
On December 25, 2012, Tinchy Stryder shared a freestyle called "Look at Me Now" on Facebook. He announced that a new single from his fourth album would be released soon. This meant that "Spaceship", "Off the Record", "Bright Lights", and "Help Me" became non-album singles.
The Cloud 9 LP / 360° (2014-Present)
Four years after his last album, Tinchy Stryder released a promotional single, "Misunderstood", on April 14, 2014. It was planned for his new album but did not make the final list.
"ESG" was the album's first single, released on June 9, 2014. It features vocals from Takura. With this release, Tinchy announced his new album would be called 360°.
In October 2014, Stryder teamed up with the Chuckle Brothers for a charity single called "To Me, To You (Bruv)". This song raised money for the African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust.
Tinchy Stryder also appeared on the TV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2014. He left the show on day 21.
On April 26, 2015, Tinchy released a new single, "Imperfection", featuring Fuse ODG. On May 8 and May 16, 2015, he released "Six Four Stuff" and "Blurt" (featuring K2 World) for free download. With these songs, he announced the new album would be titled The Cloud 9 LP. On August 23, 2015, Tinchy released a video for a new song, "Sekky". This song features Roachee from Ruff Sqwad.
On March 3, 2016, Tinchy announced that The Cloud 9 LP / 360° would be a double album with fourteen tracks. It was released on April 8, 2016. He also released "Allow Me" (featuring Jme) as an "instant grat" single.
Business Ventures and Endorsements
In September 2006, Tinchy Stryder started his clothing brand, Star in the Hood. The name comes from his nickname "Star in the Hood." In June 2010, he partnered his company, Takeover Entertainment Limited, with Roc Nation and Live Nation. This partnership was called Takeover Roc Nation. It ended in 2013, but he still has good connections with Roc Nation.
In December 2008, Stryder created his own global publishing company, Takeover/Cloud 9. He did this through a partnership with EMI Music Publishing.
In November 2011, Honda's motorbike division hired Tinchy Stryder for a campaign in Europe. This campaign promoted Honda's Vision 50 scooter.
In June 2012, Tinchy Stryder launched his own line of consumer electronics. This line included headphones called Goji Tinchy Stryder and Goji On Cloud 9 audio equipment. It also featured different types of headphones and travel speakers. The products also included accessories for tablet computers, netbooks, and smartphones. These products were sold by DSG International plc across Europe and Pixmania globally.
Personal Life
Tinchy Stryder shared in January 2010 that he wanted to be a footballer when he was younger. He played as a striker or second striker. He was part of the academy at Wimbledon F.C. from 2000 to 2003. He also played for the youth team of Leyton Orient F.C. from 2003 to 2006.
Tinchy Stryder has a daughter named Arabella with his fiancée Amba Miller. In May 2021, they welcomed a son.
Charity Work
On November 4, 2010, Tinchy Stryder attended a charity event for Alicia Keys' Keep a Child Alive charity. All the money raised from the auctions at this event went to Keep a Child Alive. Tinchy Stryder also donates some of the income from his Goji Electronics business to charity.
