Alexis started writing songs when she was in third grade. When she was 11, her family moved to Santa Clarita, California. They moved so she could follow her dream of working in the arts. At age 12, Alexis even opened a show for the legendary singer Smokey Robinson at a concert honoring Stevie Wonder.

Becoming a TV Star

In 2006, Alexis auditioned for the first season of America's Got Talent. She sang Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" and impressed the judges. She made it to the semifinals of the show. Even though she was eliminated, one of the judges, Brandy, brought her back to compete again.
