Joe Dempsie is an English actor. He is well-known for playing Chris Miles in the TV show Skins. He also played Gendry Baratheon in the popular series Game of Thrones.

Before these big roles, Joe appeared in medical dramas like Peak Practice and Doctors. He was also in films such as One for the Road and Heartlands. Later, he joined the cast of This is England '86 and This is England '90. He also played a character named John in The Fades.

Joe Dempsie grew up in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England. His dad was a social worker, and his mom was a psychologist who helped with education.

He went to West Bridgford School. He also learned acting at the Central Junior Television Workshop in Nottingham. This workshop helps young people learn about TV acting.

In 2010, Joe voiced a character named Steven in a radio play called Once Upon a Time. He then got the role of Gendry Baratheon in the HBO series Game of Thrones. This show is based on the A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R. R. Martin. Joe was in the first three seasons, and then returned for the seventh and eighth seasons.

He also appeared in the Channel 4 mini-series This Is England '86. He continued his role in the follow-up series, This Is England '88 and This Is England '90. Joe also appeared in the BBC Three series The Fades as a character named John.

In 2021, it was announced that Joe Dempsie would play Nick in the Netflix thriller series Pieces of Her. This show is based on a book by Karin Slaughter.
