Sir John Charles Bell, 1st Baronet (born 1843, died 1924) was a British businessman. He held an important position as the Lord Mayor of London from 1907 to 1908.

Early Public Service

Sir John Charles Bell began his public service career in the City of London. In 1901, he was chosen to be a Sheriff of the City of London. He served in this role from October 1901 to September 1902. He shared this duty with another important person, Horace Brooks Marshall.

A Special Year as Sheriff

Bell's time as Sheriff was special because it was 1902, the year of King Edward VII's coronation. For his service, he was given the title of Knight. He received this honor from King Edward VII himself at Buckingham Palace on October 24, 1902. During this year, he also traveled with the Lord Mayor, Sir Joseph Dimsdale. They visited cities like Wolverhampton, Bath, and Exeter to represent London.

Becoming Lord Mayor

Five years later, in 1907, Sir John Charles Bell was elected Lord Mayor of the City of London. This is a very old and important role. He served as Lord Mayor from November 1907 to November 1908.

The Title of Baronet

After his time as Lord Mayor, Sir John was given another special honor. He was made a Baronet on July 18, 1908. This title meant he was called "Sir" and his family could pass the title down. His baronetcy was linked to Framewood in Stoke Poges, a place in Buckinghamshire. However, when Sir John Charles Bell passed away in 1924, the title of Baronet ended because he had no direct heir to inherit it.
