John Rashall Salmons, born on December 12, 1979, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was a player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the University of Miami.

John Salmons' Early Life and Education
John Salmons was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up loving basketball and worked hard to become a great player.
High School Basketball Career
In 1997, Salmons was part of a state championship team. He played for Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. During his time there, he scored over 1,000 points. This is a big achievement for a high school basketball player.
College Basketball Career
After high school, John Salmons went to the University of Miami. He played college basketball for the Miami Hurricanes for four years. He was a starter in 107 games in a row, which was almost the longest streak in the school's history.
Salmons was also the first player at the University of Miami to reach some impressive milestones. He scored over 1,000 points (1,287 total). He also grabbed more than 600 rebounds (687 total). Plus, he made over 400 assists (433 total) and had more than 150 steals (192 total).

John Salmons had a long career in the NBA, playing for several teams. He was known for his strong defense and ability to score.
Philadelphia 76ers (2002–2006)
The San Antonio Spurs chose John Salmons in the 2002 NBA draft. He was the 26th player picked overall. Right after the draft, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. He played for the 76ers until the 2006 season. During his time there, he averaged about 4.1 points per game.
Sacramento Kings (2006–2009)
In 2006, John Salmons signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings. On December 22, 2006, he achieved his first triple-double in an NBA game. This means he had double-digit numbers in three different stats: 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. This happened in a game against the Denver Nuggets.
Chicago Bulls (2009–2010)
On February 18, 2009, Salmons was traded to the Chicago Bulls. He quickly became an important player for the team. He helped the Bulls reach the 2009 NBA Playoffs. In Chicago, he continued to score well, averaging over 18 points per game.
During the playoffs, Salmons played a lot of minutes, sometimes over 44 minutes per game. This was especially true in their first-round series against the Boston Celtics, which had many overtime periods. Even though the Bulls played hard, they were eliminated in the seventh game of that series.
Milwaukee Bucks (2010–2011)
On February 18, 2010, John Salmons was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. After joining the Bucks, he averaged almost 20 points per game. He decided to stay with the team and signed a new five-year contract.
Return to Sacramento (2011–2013)

On June 23, 2011, Salmons was traded back to the Sacramento Kings. This trade was part of a larger deal involving three teams.
Toronto Raptors (2013–2014)
On December 9, 2013, the Kings traded Salmons to the Toronto Raptors. He played for the Raptors for part of the 2013-2014 season.
New Orleans Pelicans (2014–2015)
On August 26, 2014, Salmons signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. His last NBA game was on February 2, 2015. He played for a short time in that game, which the Pelicans won against the Atlanta Hawks. Later in February 2015, Salmons was traded to the Phoenix Suns as part of a three-team deal. He was then released by the Suns.

Personal Life
John Salmons is a Christian. He has spoken for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which is an organization that helps athletes grow in their faith. In 2018, Salmons was honored by his old college. He was added to their Sports Hall of Fame for his achievements.
