Jon William Embree (born October 15, 1965) is an American football coach and a former player. He currently works for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL). He is their assistant head coach and also coaches the tight ends.

Before joining the Dolphins, Jon Embree was the head coach for the Colorado college team. He also coached tight ends for the Washington Redskins. As a player, he was a tight end for the Los Angeles Rams for two seasons. His playing career ended early due to an injury. The Rams chose him in the sixth round of the 1987 NFL draft after he played college football at Colorado.

After his playing days, Embree worked in television. Then, in 1991, he started volunteering as a coach for the Colorado Buffaloes. He had been one of the first players recruited by head coach Bill McCartney in 1983. Embree later became the head football coach for Colorado in 2011 and 2012.

Playing Career Highlights

Jon Embree started his college football journey at El Camino College Compton Center in Los Angeles. He was a talented player who caught the eye of professional teams. In the 1987 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams picked him in the sixth round. This meant he was one of the top players chosen that year to play in the NFL.

Jon Embree comes from a family of football players. His father, John Embree, was also an NFL player. John Embree played as a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos in 1969 and 1970.

Jon Embree was born in Los Angeles but grew up in Colorado. He graduated from Cherry Creek High School in a suburb of Denver in 1983. Jon is married to Natalyn, and they have three children. Their daughter is named Hannah. Their sons, Taylor and Connor, also followed in their father's footsteps. Taylor played wide receiver at UCLA and is now a running backs coach for the New England Patriots. Connor played wide receiver at UNLV and is currently a wide receivers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
