Jon Ola Norbom was born in Bærum, Norway. His early life was affected by World War II.
Student Life During Wartime
In 1942, during the war, Norbom was briefly held at a camp called Grini concentration camp. Later, in November 1943, he was one of many students arrested by the German forces occupying Norway. This happened because the Germans arrested all male students who were not part of the local Nazi party.
Imprisonment in Buchenwald
After his arrest, Jon Ola Norbom was sent to Buchenwald, a concentration camp in Germany. He was held there during the war.

Jon Ola Norbom passed away in April 2020 in Suwanee, Georgia, in the United States. He was 96 years old.
