Yehonatan Ya'akov "Jonathan" Mergui (Hebrew: יהונתן יעקב מרגי), known professionally as Mergui (מרגי), is an Israeli singer, actor, and dancer. He became well-known after joining the fifth season of the Israeli TV show Rising Star. He finished in second place in the competition.

Mergui was born and grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel. His family has roots from both Sephardi Jewish and Mizrahi Jewish backgrounds. This includes Moroccan-Jewish and Tunisian-Jewish heritage.
Mergui's Music Career
Jonathan Mergui started his career on the Israeli singing reality TV show Rising Star. He appeared on the show from 2017 to 2018.
Rising Star Journey
During the "screen level" of Rising Star, Mergui sang "How Far I'll Go". This song is from the movie Moana. His performance was very popular, earning an 88% score. In February 2018, he made it to the grand final of the series. He competed against other talented singers like Chen Aharoni and Netta Barzilai. Mergui earned 205 points in the final. He finished second, right behind Netta Barzilai, who won with 250 points.
First Music Releases
On September 15, 2019, Mergui released his first music collection, an EP called Ma Iyea. Johnny Goldstein produced this EP. It included popular songs like "Asur" and "Hakol Shakuff".
