Early Life and High School
Jordan Davis was born on January 12, 2000, in Charlotte, North Carolina. When he was younger, he played basketball at Hopewell High School. Later, he moved to Mallard Creek High School. This is where he started playing football.
Many top colleges wanted Jordan to play for them. He chose to play college football at the University of Georgia. He turned down offers from other famous teams like Clemson and Florida.
College Football Journey
Jordan started playing for Georgia in 2018. Even as a freshman, he played in 11 games. He made 25 tackles and had 1.5 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback. He was even named to the SEC All-Freshman team. The SEC is a major college sports conference.
In his second year, he continued to play well. He had 18 tackles and 2.5 sacks. During the 2020 season, which was shorter because of COVID-19, Jordan had 16 tackles and one sack. He helped his team win the Peach Bowl.
Winning a National Championship
Jordan had his best college season in 2021. He made 32 tackles and two sacks. His team, the Georgia Bulldogs, had a perfect regular season. They played in the SEC Championship game but lost to Alabama.
Even with that loss, Georgia was still one of the top teams. They made it to the College Football Playoffs. They beat Michigan in the Orange Bowl. This set up a rematch against Alabama in the National Championship game.
Georgia won the National Championship game 33–18. This was their first national championship since 1980! Jordan was recognized as an All-American for his amazing play. He also won the Chuck Bednarik Award and the John Outland Trophy. These are big awards for college football players.
Professional Football Career
After his great college career, Jordan prepared for the NFL Combine. This is where college players show off their skills to NFL teams. Jordan ran the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds. This was very impressive for someone his size. He was one of only a few players over 330 pounds to run under five seconds.
Joining the Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles picked Jordan Davis in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. He was the 13th player chosen overall. Jordan was one of 15 players from the Georgia Bulldogs picked in that draft. This was a record for one college team!
After being drafted, Jordan signed a four-year contract with the Eagles. It was worth $17 million.
In his first year, 2022, Jordan played in 13 games. He had 18 tackles. He also helped the Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII. They played against the Kansas City Chiefs but lost a close game.
