Jordan James Sinnott (born 14 February 1994 – died 25 January 2020) was an English footballer. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both defend and attack. Jordan was the son of Lee Sinnott, who was a famous captain for Huddersfield Town. At the time of his death in January 2020, Jordan was playing for Matlock Town in the Northern Premier League. He sadly passed away after an incident in Retford town centre.

Jordan Sinnott's Football Journey

Starting at Huddersfield Town

Jordan Sinnott went to St Mary's Menston Catholic Voluntary Academy. In the late 2000s, he joined the youth academy at Huddersfield Town. He worked hard and became the captain of the under-18 team in 2012. That same year, Jordan was given a professional contract, which meant he could play football for a living.

On 24 January 2013, the main manager of Huddersfield Town, Simon Grayson, left the club. The under-18 team's manager, Mark Lillis, took over temporarily. He gave Jordan his first chance to play for the senior team. This happened on 26 January 2013, in an FA Cup match against Leicester City at the John Smith's Stadium. The game ended in a 1–1 draw. After his first game, Jordan said he felt good and wasn't nervous at all! His first league game was on 19 February 2013, when he came on as a substitute against Nottingham Forest.

Even though he only played two games, Huddersfield Town offered Jordan a new two-year contract. He signed it, agreeing to stay with the club until 2015. After eight years at Huddersfield, Jordan left the club on 2 February 2015. His contract was ended early by agreement, as it was due to finish that summer.

Playing for Other Teams (Loans)

Huddersfield Town decided to loan Jordan out to other clubs so he could get more playing experience. On 6 December 2012, he joined Altrincham, a team in the Conference North league. His father, Lee Sinnott, was the manager there. Jordan played six games for Altrincham before returning to Huddersfield in January 2013.

On 7 August 2013, Jordan joined Bury on a six-month loan. He made his debut for Bury three days later, coming on as a substitute in a 2–1 loss against Oxford United. In his very next game, Jordan scored his first goal for Bury, helping them win 3–0 against Accrington Stanley. After playing 10 games for Bury, he was called back to Huddersfield on 18 October.

Later Football Clubs

After leaving Huddersfield Town, Jordan Sinnott returned to Altrincham for a second time, again playing under his father. He then played for F.C. Halifax Town and Chesterfield. In 2018, he joined Alfreton Town. At the time of his passing, he was playing for Matlock Town.

Remembering Jordan Sinnott

Jordan Sinnott was found unconscious in Retford, Nottinghamshire, early on 25 January 2020. He had suffered a serious head injury after an incident. He was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and sadly passed away later that evening. Both Matlock Town and his former club Alfreton Town had postponed their football matches earlier that day.

Jordan carried a donor card, meaning he had chosen to donate his organs to help others.

After his death, Jordan's brother Tom and his friend Duane Holmes asked football clubs everywhere to send shirts with Jordan's name on them. An amazing 800 different football shirts were sent from all over the world. These shirts were displayed at his funeral, which was held at Bradford City's stadium. After the funeral, the shirts were donated to Sport Relief, a charity that uses sport to help people.

In July 2020, two men, Kai Denovan and Cameron Matthews, were found responsible for Jordan's death and faced legal consequences. Another man, Sean Nicholson, admitted his part in the incident and also faced consequences.

Jordan was engaged to Kelly Bossons. After Jordan's funeral, Kelly found out she was expecting their child. Their daughter was born in September 2020.
