Josephus Lyles is an American track and field athlete. He is known for being a very fast runner, also called a sprinter. Josephus was born on July 22, 1998, in Gainesville, Florida. He grew up in Alexandria, Virginia.

He went to T. C. Williams High School, where he started to show his amazing talent in running. Josephus is especially good at short-distance races like the 100, 200, and 400 meters.

Becoming a Professional Sprinter

Josephus Lyles has achieved some impressive times in his running career. His best time in the 200-meter race is 19.93 seconds. This speed places him among the fastest 100 people ever in that event.

In July 2016, Josephus and his older brother, Noah Lyles, made a big decision. They both became professional athletes. This means they started running for a living. They signed a contract with Adidas, a well-known sports company.

A Family of Athletes

Running talent seems to run in the Lyles family! Josephus's parents, Keisha Caine and Kevin Lyles, were also track and field athletes. They competed in college at Seton Hall University. This background likely helped Josephus and Noah develop their own skills.
