Josh Parker, born on December 1, 1990, is a professional football player. He plays as a striker for Oxford City in the National League. Josh also represents the Antigua and Barbuda national team. He has played football in several countries, including England, Scotland, Slovenia, and Serbia.
Club Career Highlights
Starting with Queens Park Rangers
Josh Parker began his football journey at Queens Park Rangers (QPR). In January 2010, he joined AFC Wimbledon on a short loan. He played in two matches for them. Later, in April 2010, he made his first big league debut in the EFL Championship. This was a big step for him.
He also had loan spells at Northampton Town and Wycombe Wanderers. Unfortunately, a foot injury during international duty cut short his time at Wycombe. After returning to QPR, he was released when the team moved up to the Premier League.
Time at Oldham Athletic
In August 2011, Josh signed a one-year contract with Oldham Athletic. He played his first game for them at the start of the 2011–12 season. He also spent some time on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge. At the end of the season, Oldham Athletic released him.
Playing for Oxford United
Josh joined Oxford United in December 2012. He played in 15 league games for the club. He was released by Oxford United in May 2013.
Adventures in Slovenia and Serbia
In June 2013, Josh moved to Slovenia to play for Domžale. He spent a year and a half playing in the Slovenian PrvaLiga, which is Slovenia's top football league.
After his time in Slovenia, he moved to Serbia. He signed a two-year contract with Red Star Belgrade, a well-known team in the Serbian SuperLiga. In August 2015, he also had a short loan spell with Aberdeen in Scotland.
Joining Gillingham
In January 2017, Josh joined Wealdstone briefly. Just two weeks later, he signed with Gillingham, a team in EFL League One. He made a great start, scoring in a friendly match and then scoring a last-minute goal in his first league game. His contract was extended for two more years because of his good performance.
Moving to Charlton Athletic
Josh Parker joined Charlton Athletic on a six-month contract. He played 10 games for them. He was released by Charlton at the end of the 2018–19 season.
Return to Wycombe Wanderers
On August 1, 2019, Parker signed with Wycombe Wanderers again. He scored his first goal for them in an EFL Trophy match in November 2019.
Time at Burton Albion
In January 2021, Josh joined Burton Albion on a one-and-a-half-year deal. However, he left the club by agreement in August 2021.
Playing for Oxford City
After a short time with Risborough Rangers, Josh signed with Oxford City in September 2022. He made his debut on the same day. He had a fantastic January in 2023, scoring five goals. This earned him the league's Player of the Month award.
International Career
Josh Parker is able to play for Antigua and Barbuda. In November 2010, he was invited to join their national team. He played his first game for them on November 10, 2010, in a 2–1 win against Suriname.
He was part of the Antigua and Barbuda team in the 2010 Caribbean Cup and the 2014 Caribbean Cup. In 2015, he was given the honor of becoming the team's captain. He has scored 5 goals for his country.
Personal Life
In March 2016, Josh Parker appeared on a TV show called Couples Come Dine with Me. This episode was filmed in Aberdeen while he was playing football there.
