José Santos Arraño Acevedo (born October 14, 1921 – died November 23, 2009) was a famous journalist and historian from Chile. He worked for many newspapers in different parts of the country. He also wrote two important books about the history of Pichilemu. These books were called Pichilemu y Sus Alrededores Turísticos and Hombres y Cosas de Pichilemu.

About José Arraño Acevedo
His Early Life and Education

José Arraño Acevedo was born on October 14, 1921. His birthplace was Quebrada del Nuevo Reino, a place close to Pichilemu, Chile. He was one of twelve children born to José Luis Arraño Ortiz and María Soledad Acevedo Caro.
He spent his childhood growing up in Pichilemu. For his education, Arraño went to the Escuela de los Hermanos Maristas. This school is now known as Instituto San Fernando, located in San Fernando. He also studied at the Pontifical Seminary in Santiago.
His Career as a Journalist and Historian
José Arraño Acevedo had a long career as a journalist. He wrote for many newspapers across Chile. Some of these included Las Últimas Noticias in Santiago and El Rancagüino from Rancagua. He also worked for El Sur in Concepción, La Prensa in Curicó, and La Discusión in Chillán.
In 1979, he became a founding member of the Writers' Society of Rancagua. This shows how important he was in the world of writing.
All the articles he wrote were later put together into two books. These books focused on the history and beauty of Pichilemu. His first book, Pichilemu y sus alrededores turísticos, came out in 1999. The second book, Hombres y Cosas de Pichilemu, was published in 2003.
In his later years, José Arraño Acevedo also hosted a radio show. It was called La Hora de José Arraño Acevedo. This show was on the air for almost ten years. He became well-known for his famous phrase, "¡Qué lindo es Pichilemu!" which means "How beautiful Pichilemu is!"
His Later Years and Passing
On November 22, 2009, José Arraño Acevedo was admitted to the Pichilemu Hospital. He passed away the next day, on November 23, 2009, at 2:00 PM local time. He was 88 years old and died from pneumonia.
His funeral was held at the Inmaculada Concepción Church in Pichilemu. He was buried on November 24, 2009, in the Cemetery of Pichilemu.
