José Ángel González Sainz was born in Spain in 1956. He is a Spanish writer, a translator, and a university teacher. He was born in Soria and studied philology (the study of languages and literature) in Barcelona.

Throughout his life, he has lived in different cities. These include Madrid in Spain, and Venice and Trieste in Italy.

Teaching and Translating

Since 1982, José Ángel González Sainz has taught in Italy. He has also worked as a translator. He translates books and ideas from Italian writers into Spanish.

He has translated works by many important Italian thinkers. Some of these include Emmanuele Severino and Guido Ceronetti. He also translated books by his friend, Claudio Magris.

Cultural Work and Writing

In 1988, José Ángel González Sainz started a cultural magazine. It was called Archipelago. He helped run this magazine until 2002. The magazine aimed to share ideas about culture and art.

He has also written for many newspapers and magazines. These include well-known Spanish papers like El País and El Mundo.

José Ángel González Sainz has written several books. One of his most famous novels is Un mundo exasperado. In 1995, this book won the Premio Herralde. This is a very important literary award in Spain.
