Juan Ruiz de Medina (died January 30, 1507) was an important leader in the Catholic Church. He served as a Bishop in several different cities in Spain. A bishop is a high-ranking church official who oversees a specific area, called a Diocese.
A Life of Service
Juan Ruiz de Medina began his journey as a bishop in 1489. He was chosen by the King of Spain to become the Bishop of Astorga. This choice was then approved by Pope Innocent VIII, who was the head of the Catholic Church at that time.
Moving to New Roles
Over the years, Juan Ruiz de Medina took on leadership roles in different dioceses:
- In 1493, Pope Alexander VI appointed him as the Bishop of Badajoz.
- Just two years later, in 1495, Pope Alexander VI appointed him again. This time, he became the Bishop of Cartagena.
- Finally, in 1502, Pope Alexander VI appointed him to his last position. He became the Bishop of Segovia.
Juan Ruiz de Medina served as the Bishop of Segovia until he passed away on January 30, 1507.
