Juan Velasco Damas was born on May 17, 1977. He is a Spanish former professional footballer. He played as a right-back. After his playing career, he became a manager.
Juan Velasco played for eight different clubs during his career. He appeared in 213 matches in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He also played in England and Greece. Velasco also represented Spain in the Euro 2000 tournament.

Juan Velasco's Club Career
Juan Velasco was born in Dos Hermanas, a town in Spain. He started his professional football journey with his local team, Sevilla FC. In the 1996–97 season, he played 13 matches in La Liga. Unfortunately, his team was moved down to a lower league that year.
His first game in the top league was on March 5, 1997. Sevilla lost 2–0 to Rayo Vallecano in that match. Over the next two years, he played in 72 official games. He helped his team, Sevilla, get back into the top league in the 1998–99 season.
Playing for Celta de Vigo
After helping Sevilla get promoted, Velasco joined RC Celta de Vigo. This was a very successful time in his career. In the 2002–03 season, he played 31 games. He helped Celta de Vigo qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever.
However, in the next season, Celta de Vigo was moved down to a lower league. Juan Velasco scored his only goal in the main division on January 4, 2000. This goal helped his team draw 1–1 against Valencia CF.
Moving to Other Clubs
After Celta, Velasco played for Atlético Madrid for two years. Then he played for RCD Espanyol for one year. During these three years, he played about 22 matches each season.
On February 18, 2008, Juan Velasco joined Norwich City. This team plays in the EFL Championship in England. He signed a three-month contract after a good tryout. After the season, he left Norwich City. He then moved to Panthrakikos FC in Greece, which had just been promoted to their top league.
In January 2010, Velasco changed teams again but stayed in Greece. He joined Athlitiki Enosi Larissa FC. He stopped playing football in June 2011, when he was 34 years old.
Becoming a Manager
In 2013, Juan Velasco returned to football as a manager. He was appointed manager of Xerez CD B. On October 13, 2016, Velasco became the head coach of Segunda División B team Extremadura UD. He has continued his coaching career with various teams since then.
Juan Velasco's International Career
Juan Velasco played for the Spanish national team five times. His first game for Spain was on January 26, 2000. It was a friendly match against Poland in Cartagena, which Spain won 3–0.
He was chosen to be part of the Spanish team for UEFA Euro 2000. However, he did not get to play in any games during that tournament. He stayed on the bench as a substitute.
