Julia Gomelskaya (born March 11, 1964 – died December 4, 2016) was a talented Ukrainian composer. She created many different kinds of music. This included music for large orchestras, smaller groups of instruments, choirs, and singers.

Julia Gomelskaya's Life Story

Julia Gomelskaya started her musical journey as a pianist. She studied at the Simpheropol Tchaikovsky Musical College. Later, she focused on composing music. She learned from Oleksandr Krasotov at the Odessa National A.V.Nezhdanova Music Academy in Ukraine. She even became a professor there, teaching others how to compose.

In 1994, Julia attended a special workshop in Amsterdam. She learned from famous composers like Ton de Leeuw. She then received a scholarship to study in London. There, she continued her studies with Robert Saxton. In 1996, she earned a master's degree in composition.

Julia Gomelskaya held a PhD in Music Art. This means she was an expert in music. She wrote many pieces, including grand symphonies for orchestras. She also composed music for ballet, chamber groups, and vocal pieces. She was a member of important music organizations in Ukraine.

Her music was played at many international festivals. These events took place in Ukraine and other countries. Her works were heard in places like Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Italy. Famous venues like Wigmore Hall in London performed her music. In 2008, her ballet called "Jane Eyre" was performed. The London Children's Ballet staged it in London.

Sadly, Julia Gomelskaya died in a car accident. She passed away on December 4, 2016, when she was 52 years old.
