Julian had two sisters, Melinda and Deborah. His family had roots in Ireland.
Julian went to Sydney Grammar School, an all-boys school. As a child, he dreamed of joining the army and playing rugby. He later studied law and economics at university. But he found these subjects were not for him. So, he started a career in modeling. He traveled to big fashion cities like Milan, London, and New York.
In 1988, Julian's father passed away. Julian returned to Australia for the funeral. While there, he filmed some commercials. These commercials helped him get his first acting job. It was on the popular Australian TV show Home and Away.
Julian's Acting Journey
Julian McMahon started his TV acting career in a show called The Power, The Passion. Then, in 1990, he joined Home and Away as Ben Lucini. He decided to leave the show in 1990.
