Julian Dana William McMahon (born July 27, 1968) is an actor from Australia. He is well-known for his roles in popular TV shows and movies. Julian is the only son of Sir William McMahon, who was once the Prime Minister of Australia.
He is famous for playing Ben Lucini in Home and Away, Cole Turner in Charmed, and Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck. He also played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies. More recently, he starred as Jess LaCroix in the crime drama FBI: Most Wanted.

Early Life and Education
Julian McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia. His father, Sir William McMahon, was an important Australian politician. His mother, Lady McMahon, was known for her style and social life.
Julian's father became the 20th Prime Minister of Australia in 1971. At that time, Julian was two years old. He has two sisters, Melinda and Deborah.
Julian went to Sydney Grammar School, which is a private school for boys. As a child, he dreamed of being an army cadet and playing rugby. He later studied law at the University of Sydney and economics at the University of Wollongong. However, he found these studies boring.
Julian then started a career as a model. He became well-known in major fashion cities like Milan, London, and New York.
Acting Career Highlights
Julian McMahon gained fame for his roles in many TV dramas. He played Ben Lucini in the Australian soap opera Home and Away from 1989 to 1991. He then moved to American TV, playing Detective John Grant in Profiler (1996–2000).
One of his most popular roles was Cole Turner in the supernatural drama Charmed (2000–2003). He also starred as Christian Troy in the medical drama Nip/Tuck (2003–2010). For his work in Nip/Tuck, he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
Julian has also appeared in several movies. He played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies in 2005 and 2007. He was in Premonition with Sandra Bullock in 2007. Other films include Red (2010) and Bait (2012).
In 2018, Julian returned to Australia to film Swinging Safari. He played Rick Jones in this movie, which is set in the 1970s.
From 2020 to 2022, Julian starred as Jess LaCroix in the CBS crime drama FBI: Most Wanted. He also made guest appearances in the related shows FBI and FBI: International. Julian often plays characters who are villains or have a complicated past. He says he is drawn to these types of roles.
Personal Life
Julian McMahon married singer Dannii Minogue in 1994. They met on the set of Home and Away. They divorced after 18 months.
In 1999, Julian married actress Brooke Burns. They had a daughter in June 2000. The couple divorced in 2001. Julian married for the third time in 2014 to Kelly Paniagua.
Julian has lived in the United States since the 1990s. However, he still feels very connected to Australia. He has said that he feels "Australian on the inside and American on the outside." He loves his Australian background and wouldn't change it.
