Julie Blanchette (born January 9, 1977, in Montreal, Quebec) is a famous Canadian ringette player. She has also worked as a trainer and coach. Julie was the captain for many ringette teams, including Team Canada. She plays for the Montreal Mission in the National Ringette League. Julie has been a part of the Canadian national ringette team as both a player and a coach.

Julie Blanchette was an assistant coach for the 2022 Team Canada Seniors. They played in the 2022 World Ringette Championships. She is the Head Coach for Canada's Senior National Team for the 2023 World Ringette Championships. This is part of a special program for that tournament.

Julie Blanchette's Ringette Journey

Julie Blanchette started playing ringette when she was just four years old. Her parents wanted her to play a team sport, like her brother who played ice hockey. So, they signed her up for a local ringette club in Montreal.

Julie played ringette at every level as she grew up. She represented Quebec in big competitions. These included the Canadian Ringette Championships and the Canada Winter Games.

Playing for Top Teams

Julie played in Canada's top semi-professional ringette league, the National Ringette League. She joined the Montreal Mission team in 2003. In 2005, she even played a season in Finland. She played for the club Ringette Turku in Finland's top ringette league, SM Ringette.

Representing Team Canada

Julie was a member of the Canada national ringette team many times. Her first time was as a player for the 2004 national team. She competed in the 2004 World Ringette Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.

She played for the 2007 Canadian national team in the 2007 World Ringette Championships in Ottawa. Her last time playing for Team Canada was in 2010. She competed with the 2010 Canadian senior team in the 2010 World Ringette Championships in Tampere, Finland. In 2008, she also played in the 2008 Ringette World Club Championships.

Leading as Captain and Coach

Julie Blanchette was the team captain for the Canadian national ringette team. She was also the captain of the Montreal Mission in the National Ringette League. She has worked as a ringette trainer and coach too.

She was the trainer for the national Team Canada juniors (Under-19 years) in 2009. This was during the 2009 World Junior Ringette Championships in Prague, Czech Republic. In September 2013, Julie became an assistant coach for Canada's 2013 Senior National Team. They competed in the 2013 World Ringette Championships.

Julie once said that ringette has been her passion since she was four. She feels a lot of passion, determination, and commitment for the sport.
