Julie Sommars (born April 15, 1940) is an American actress. She is known for her roles in TV shows like The Governor & J.J. and Matlock.

Early TV Roles
Julie Sommars started her acting career on television in 1960. She was 18 years old when she first appeared on The Loretta Young Show. After that, she acted in many popular TV shows.
Some of these shows included Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and Perry Mason. She also appeared in The Fugitive and Get Smart.
Starring in The Governor & J.J.
From 1969 to 1970, Julie Sommars played a main character in the CBS comedy series, The Governor & J.J.. She played Jennifer Jo "J.J." Drinkwater, who was the daughter of the "Governor" played by Dan Dailey.
Her performance in this show was highly praised. In 1970, she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy Series. The show ran for two seasons.
Later TV Work
After The Governor & J.J., Julie Sommars continued to act in many TV movies. She also appeared as a guest star on several famous shows. These included The Rockford Files, McCloud, and Magnum, P.I..
From 1987 to 1994, she had a long-running role on the NBC legal drama Matlock. She played Assistant District Attorney Julie March. This role earned her another Golden Globe nomination in 1990.

Julie Sommars also acted in several movies. In 1965, she had a main role in the Western film The Great Sioux Massacre. She also starred in the comedy The Pad and How to Use It in 1966.
One of her most famous movie roles was in 1977. She co-starred with Dean Jones and Don Knotts in Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. In this movie, she played Diane Darcy.
