Early Life and Education
Julien Macdonald grew up in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. He went to Cyfarthfa High School and later studied art at The College Merthyr Tydfil. His mother taught him how to knit, which sparked his interest in design from a young age.
Even though he was interested in dancing, Julien decided to study textiles at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture in Brighton. He then continued his studies at the Royal College of Art, where he earned a master's degree.
Fashion Career Highlights
After finishing his studies, Julien Macdonald quickly started working with big names in fashion. He was hired by Karl Lagerfeld to work for Chanel, a very famous fashion brand. He also created knitwear for designer Alexander McQueen.
