Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition was a super fun cooking competition show from the Philippines! It aired from 2011 to 2012. This show was a special version of the British show Junior MasterChef. It was all about young Filipino chefs, aged 8 to 12, showing off their amazing cooking skills.
The show was broadcast on ABS-CBN. It started with a special preview on August 20, 2011. The famous Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo was the host, guiding the young contestants.
Three professional Filipino chefs were the judges: Fern Aracama, Rolando Laudico, and JP Anglo. They tasted all the dishes and decided who cooked the best.
On September 24, ABS-CBN announced that the show would move to a new time slot on Sundays, starting October 2, 2011. The show finished on February 18, 2012. The talented Kyle Imao was crowned the winner! After Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition, the show Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal took its place.
Getting Started: The Appetizer
Before the main competition began, there was a special episode called The Appetizer. It aired on August 20, 2011. This episode was like a sneak peek for viewers. It showed how the competition would work. The host and judges introduced themselves. Viewers also got to see parts of the auditions. They watched as the show narrowed down thousands of young cooks to the Top 60!

Meet the Top Young Chefs
The show started with many talented young cooks. Eventually, only 20 made it to the main competition. These kids showed incredible skills in the kitchen!
The competition was tough, but these young chefs kept cooking their best. Here are the top four contestants who made it to the very end:
- Kyle Imao, 12 years old from Marikina, was the grand winner!
- Philip Dave Amarillo, 13 years old from Cebu, was the Runner-Up. (He was 12 during auditions and turned 13 before the show aired.)
- Mika Kristina Tanaka, 11 years old from Quezon City, placed 3rd.
- Antonio Carlos "Jobim" Jalbuena, 14 years old from Makati, placed 4th.
Some contestants who were eliminated even got a chance to come back! For example, Louise Emmanuelle Mabulo was eliminated but returned later in the competition.
One contestant, Gino Yang, decided to leave the show early. He had a special chance to go to an international cooking summer camp in China. He chose to follow that dream!
Here's what the colors in the competition charts usually mean:
- This means the young chef was the winner of a challenge or the whole competition.
- This means the young chef was one of the top cooks in a challenge, but didn't win first place.
- This means the young chef was eliminated from the competition.
- This means the young chef decided to leave the competition on their own.
