A list of episodes for Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition is here! This was a super fun cooking show where talented young chefs from the Philippines battled it out. They showed off their amazing cooking skills!

The show was hosted by the famous Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo. Three top Filipino chefs, Fern Aracama, Rolando Laudico, and JP Anglo, were the judges. They decided who had the best dishes. The show started on August 27, 2011, and the big finale was on February 18, 2012.

Season 1: 2011-2012 Challenges

In this season, the young cooks had to go through different challenges. They earned points to avoid being eliminated. Some cooks who were eliminated even got a second chance in the Wildcard Battle!

The show began with 60 young cooks, aged 8-12, from all over the Philippines. They cooked their special dishes for the judges. This was how the top contestants were chosen!
2 "TOP 60 – Heat I: Filipino Fiesta Cuisine" 27 August 2011 (2011-08-27) 27.8%
Twenty of the 60 young chefs competed in the first round. They focused on dishes usually found at Filipino fiestas. Only 10 moved on to the Top 30.
3 "TOP 60 – Heat II: Desserts" 3 September 2011 (2011-09-03) 26.7%
In the second round, another 20 young cooks made their favorite desserts. The top 10 dessert makers joined the Top 30.
4 "TOP 60 – Heat III: Seafood" 10 September 2011 (2011-09-10) 26.5%
The last group of 20 young cooks made their best seafood dishes. The top 10 seafood chefs were chosen, completing the Top 30 junior chefs. They then moved to the next round!
5 "QUALIFYING ROUND I – Invention Test" 17 September 2011 (2011-09-17) 27.8%
The Top 30 cooks were split into two groups for their first "Invention Test." One group cooked chicken and vegetables, while the other made pork and fruit dishes. The best 10 from each group became the official contestants.
6 "QUALIFYING ROUND II – Pressure Test" 24 September 2011 (2011-09-24) 25.1%
The 20 cooks who didn't make it in the first round faced a "Pressure Test." They had to perfectly recreate a Beef Steak with Mashed Potato and Mushroom Sauce. The ones who succeeded joined the Top 20.
7 "Mystery Box Challenge / Invention Test" 1 October 2011 (2011-10-01) 25.6%

Mystery Box: The Top 20 cooks had to make a practical dish using ingredients that an average Filipino family would have. Miko won this challenge and got to choose the main ingredient for the next test.

Invention Test: Miko chose duck as the main ingredient for the Invention Test.
8 "Off-site Team Challenge: Kakanin (Rice cakes)" 2 October 2011 (2011-10-02) 22.9%
The 20 young cooks went to Barasoain Church for a team challenge. They were split into Green and Yellow teams. They had to cook different types of Filipino kakanin. One hundred churchgoers tasted and voted for their favorite. The Green Team won!
9 "CATCH UP – Basic Skills Test / Invention Test: Salad Dressing" 8 October 2011 (2011-10-08) 23.7%
Cooks could earn more points by showing off their basic cooking skills. The top five then moved on to an Invention Test where they had to create a salad dressing.
10 "ELIMINATION – Pressure Test: Adobo Dish Version" 9 October 2011 (2011-10-09) 21.2%

The bottom six cooks faced their first elimination round. They had to cook their own special version of Adobo. The judges tasted the dishes without knowing who cooked them.

11 "Mystery Box Challenge: Fairy Tale Themed Ingredients" 15 October 2011 (2011-10-15) 22.9%
The young cooks had to create a dish using ingredients inspired by fairy tales. Ivan Dorschner was a special guest!
12 "Invention Test: Birthday Cake" 16 October 2011 (2011-10-16) 21.9%
Each young chef had to bake their dream birthday cake, and it had to include banana as an ingredient.
13 "Off-site Team Challenge: Focaccia Bread & Dinner Rolls" 22 October 2011 (2011-10-22) 22.4%
The cooks were divided into two teams. Their task was to create their own versions of Focaccia Bread and Dinner Rolls.
14 "CATCH UP – Basic Skills Test: Eggs / Invention Test: Eggs" 23 October 2011 (2011-10-23) 22.1%

The young cooks had to show their skills with eggs. They had to separate egg whites from yolks and then beat the whites until they were fluffy enough to stay in a bowl upside down! The top five then had an Invention Test using eggs.

NOTE: After this challenge, Gino Yang decided to leave the show to attend a cooking summer camp in China.
15 "ELIMINATION – Pressure Test" 29 October 2011 (2011-10-29) 21.7%

The cooks faced another Pressure Test.

16 "Mystery Box Challenge: Vegetables" 30 October 2011 (2011-10-30) 21.4%
The young chefs had to create a delicious vegetable dish that other kids would love to eat.
17 "Invention Test: Baby Back Ribs" 5 November 2011 (2011-11-05) 23.7%
For the first time, the cooks were divided into five groups of three. Philip, who won the Mystery Box, chose Baby Back Ribs as the main ingredient. The winning groups earned points.
18 "Off-site Team Challenge: Lechon (Roasted Pig)" 6 November 2011 (2011-11-06) 22.2%
The cooks were split into two teams to create their very own Lechon (roasted pig). The Green Team won this challenge!
19 "CATCH UP – Basic Skills Test: Moroccan Meatballs / ELIMINATION – Pressure Test" 12 November 2011 (2011-11-12) 22.4%

Basic Skills Test: Cooks had to make Moroccan meatballs that weighed exactly 50g. The five who passed then cooked Moroccan Meatballs with Risotto.

20 "Mystery Box Challenge: Christmas Themed Ingredients" 13 November 2011 (2011-11-13) 22.4%
The "SUPER" 12 cooks were given 12 different Christmas-themed ingredients like Pineapple, Hamon, and Quezo de Bola. They had to use four of these in their dish.
21 "Invention Test: Clams / Off-site Team Challenge" 19 November 2011 (2011-11-19) 24.9%

Invention Test: Miko chose clams as the main ingredient for this test. Bianca Dimapilis won this challenge!

Off-site Team Challenge: Bianca got to choose her team and their menu. The teams cooked for a community at Treston International College. The Yellow Team won!
22 "CATCH UP – Basic Skills Test: Herbs, Spices, and Leaf Vegetables / Invention Test: Taste" 20 November 2011 (2011-11-20) 21.3%

The Super 12 cooks had to identify different herbs, spices, and leaf vegetables. The ones with the highest scores moved on to a challenge where they had to cook a dish based on a specific taste (like sweet or spicy). Patrick won this challenge.

NOTE: It was announced that eight cooks would face elimination soon.
23 "ELIMINATION – Pressure Test: Princess Carmen / Tag Team Challenge: Asian Surf and Turf Dish" 26 November 2011 (2011-11-26) 25.2%

Elimination Round: The bottom eight cooks had to recreate a dish called "Princess Carmen." ELIMINATED: Beatrice Anne "Tricia" Baylosis

Tag Team Challenge: The cooks were divided into two teams and had to recreate an Asian Surf and Turf Dish. The Green Team won!
24 "Invention Test: Balut" 27 November 2011 (2011-11-27) 22%
The young cooks had to create their own dish using balut as the main ingredient. Kyle won this challenge!
25 "Off-site Team Challenge: Cream Dory & Pie" 3 December 2011 (2011-12-03) 21.6%

The cooks went to a farm for this team challenge. They were divided into two teams and had to cook two different dishes: one with fish (Cream Dory) and a dessert pie. They even had to catch 10 fish first! The Yellow Team won.

NOTE: Jobim was not present for this challenge.
26 "CATCH UP – Taste Test & Creation Test: Pizza" 4 December 2011 (2011-12-04) TBA
In the first part of this challenge, each cook had to name 25 ingredients on a giant pizza. Then, they had to create their own Filipino-style pizza dish.
27 "ELIMINATION: Suman Panna cotta / Mystery Box Challenge: Korean Themed Ingredients" 10 December 2011 (2011-12-10) TBA

GUEST: Ryan Bang joined for the Mystery Box Challenge, which featured Korean-themed ingredients.
28 "Off-Site Team Challenge: Carbohydrate & Protein Loaded Dishes" 11 December 2011 (2011-12-11) TBA

The two teams had to cook dishes packed with carbohydrates and protein for 20 people. The Yellow Team won this challenge.

GUESTS: Members of the University of the Philippines Dragon Boat Team were special guests.
29 "Invention Test: Roots to Riches / Pressure Test: Orange-Balsamic Adobo Chicken Dish" 17 December 2011 (2011-12-17) 15.4%

Invention Test: The Yellow Team chose ube (purple yam) as the main ingredient. The cooks had to create a delicious ube dish. GUEST JUDGES: Chef Mau and Uncle Larry. Pressure Test: The cooks had one hour to recreate Chef Steph's Orange-Balsamic Adobo Chicken.

30 "ELIMINATION – Skills Test & Creativity Test: Bangus" 18 December 2011 (2011-12-18) 18.1%

Skills Test: The bottom five cooks had to debone a whole bangus (milkfish). The first two to finish were safe. Creativity Test: The remaining three cooks had to create their own stuffed bangus dish.

37 "Tag Team Challenge: Sinigang / Pressure Test"  14 January 2012 (2012-01-14) TBA

Tag Team Challenge: The cooks teamed up with guest comedians. The young chefs had to guide the comedians to cook Sinigang using different ingredients like tamarind or guava. GUESTS: Jason Gainza, Tado Jimenez, Rubi-Rubi, and Kakai Bautista. Pressure Test: The cooks had to recreate a "Heavenly Chocolate" dish.

GUEST: Chef Buddy Trinidad.
38 "ELIMINATION"  15 January 2012 (2012-01-15) TBA

Five cooks faced elimination. They had to prepare tasty on-the-go snacks and siopao to stay in the competition.

Some previously eliminated cooks, like Bea, Athena, Gino, and others, returned for a "Wildcard Battle." They had five challenges to earn a spot back in the competition. Two cooks were eliminated in each challenge. RE-ELIMINATED: Nadine Mosh "Nadine" Lee Oliver and Gerardo Angel "Gino" Yang

46 "Road to the Finale" 12 February 2012 (2012-02-12) TBA

The Top 4 young cooks received their official jackets and knife sets. They were ready to compete in the live finale to become the first Pinoy Junior MasterChef!

47 "FINALE: The Live Cook-Off"  18 February 2012 (2012-02-18) 26.3%

This was the exciting live finale, held at Treston International College! In the first challenge, the cooks had ₱300 to buy ingredients at a local market. They cooked their dishes, which were judged by the chefs and 100 regular people. For the second challenge, they had 30 minutes to cook their "dream dish." The judges tasted and scored these dishes. Finally, the winners were announced! Jobim Jalbuena placed 4th, Mika Tanaka was 3rd, and Philip Amarillo was 2nd. The first-ever Pinoy Junior MasterChef was Kyle Imao! GUEST JUDGE: Chef Glenda Rosales-Barretto.

NOTE: Samsung gave each young cook a new microwave oven and the winner a Samsung Galaxy Tab.
