Juno Award for Traditional Indigenous Artist of the Year facts for kids
The Juno Award for Traditional Indigenous Artist of the Year is a special Canadian music award. It's given out every year by the Juno Awards. This award celebrates music made by Indigenous Canadian artists. These artists create music in traditional styles.
The award was first announced in 2021. It was given out for the very first time at the Juno Awards of 2022.
This award is presented alongside another new award. That one is for the Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year.
Before 2022, traditional and modern Indigenous artists were all honored together. They had one award called the Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year. Now, they have two separate awards!
