Junya Tanaka (田中 順也, Tanaka Jun'ya, born 15 July 1987) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a forward or midfielder. Tanaka was known for his skills and goal-scoring ability during his career.

Junya Tanaka's Football Journey
Early Career and Kashiwa Reysol
Junya Tanaka started his football journey playing for Mitsubishi Yowa in his youth. He then went on to Juntendo University. In 2009, while still in his final year at university, he played nine games for Kashiwa Reysol as a special player.
After finishing university, Tanaka officially joined Kashiwa Reysol. He played for the team for nearly six years. During his time there, he helped them win some big titles. These included the J1 League in 2011 and the Emperor's Cup in 2012.
Playing in Portugal with Sporting CP
On June 29, 2014, Junya Tanaka moved to Europe. He signed a five-year contract with Sporting CP, a famous club in Portugal's top league, the Primeira Liga. This was a big step in his career, playing for a team outside Japan.
He played for Sporting CP for two seasons. In 2016, he returned to Kashiwa Reysol for a short time on loan.
Return to Japan and Vissel Kobe
After his time in Portugal, Tanaka came back to Japan. He joined Vissel Kobe in 2017. He played for Vissel Kobe for several seasons, from 2017 to 2021. While with Vissel Kobe, he continued to show his talent. He helped the team win the Emperor's Cup in 2019.
Later Career with FC Gifu
Later in his career, from 2022 to 2023, Junya Tanaka played for FC Gifu. He continued to contribute to the team with his experience. He officially retired from professional football after the 2023 season.
Playing for Japan
Junya Tanaka also represented his country, Japan, on the international stage. He played four matches for the national team between 2012 and 2014.
Personal Life
Junya Tanaka married model Manami Ui on December 21, 2013. They welcomed their first child on July 16, 2014.
