Kabetogama Township is a small community located in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, in the United States. In 2010, about 135 people lived here. Part of this township is inside the beautiful Kabetogama State Forest.

This area is close to Voyageurs National Park and sits right next to Kabetogama Lake. The small community of Kabetogama is also found within the township.

Exploring Kabetogama Township

Kabetogama Township covers a total area of about 33.2 square miles. A little over half of this area, about 17.1 square miles, is covered by water. The rest, about 16.1 square miles, is land.

This township is the northernmost organized township in Saint Louis County. It's about 27 miles southeast of International Falls and 49 miles north of Cook.

Kabetogama Lake and Voyageurs National Park

Kabetogama Township is located right along Kabetogama Lake. This lake is one of four big lakes that make up Voyageurs National Park. The community of Kabetogama is often called the "gateway" to this amazing national park.

Kabetogama Lake is huge, with about 25,000 acres of water and 200 islands! The name "Kabetogama" comes from the Chippewa language and means "rough waters." The lake can definitely live up to its name when it's windy.

Kabetogama Lake is famous for its fishing, especially for walleye. You can also find northern pike, crappie, perch, and bass here.

The Kabetogama area is also a popular spot for hunting. People come here to hunt whitetail deer, black bear, and small game birds.
