Kaila Adia Story-Jackson, born on January 9, 1980, is an American professor and podcaster. She studies how different parts of a person's identity, like their gender and race, connect and affect their experiences.

Early Life and Education
Kaila Story was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She went to DePaul University for her bachelor's degree. There, she studied Women and Gender Studies.
Later, Story continued her studies at Temple University. In 2007, she earned both a master's degree and a doctorate. Her advanced degrees were in African American Studies. She also received a certificate in Women and Gender Studies.
Career and Teaching
Kaila Story is a professor at the University of Louisville. She teaches in the Women's and Gender Studies department. She also works with the Pan-African Studies department.
Professor Story has created special classes for students. These classes look at how different identities come together. Some of her courses include "Black Lesbian Lives" and "Queer Perspectives in Literature and Film." Students at the University of Louisville have voted her a "faculty favorite" every year since 2007.
Strange Fruit Podcast
Story is also a co-host of a podcast called Strange Fruit. She hosts it with Jaison Gardner on the public radio station WFPL. The podcast talks about important topics like race, the LGBTQ community, and social justice. In June 2017, the podcast celebrated its 200th episode. Many famous guests have been on the show, including Janelle Monáe, Janet Mock, and Wanda Sykes.
Awards and Recognition
Kaila Story has received several honors for her work.
In October 2015, she was recognized as a "champion of fairness." This award was given at a Fairness Campaign event in Louisville. It honored her efforts to help with civil rights for LGBT people.
In June 2017, Story was named to the first ever NBC Out #Pride30 list. This list celebrates people who have made a difference in the LGBTQ community.

Kaila Story married her wife, Missy Story-Jackson, in April 2016. They live together in Louisville, Kentucky.
