Kailash Chandra Joshi (born 14 July 1929 – died 24 November 2019) was an important Indian politician. He served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, a state in India, in the late 1970s. Later, he became a Member of Parliament in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Who Was Kailash Chandra Joshi?
Kailash Chandra Joshi was a well-known political leader in India. He was born in 1929 in a place called Hatpipaliya in the Dewas area. He started his political journey with a party called the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. This party later became what is known today as the BJP.
His Early Life and Family
Kailash Chandra Joshi was born to Shri Umashankar Joshi and Smt. Rambha Bai Joshi. In 1951, he married Smt. Tara Joshi. They had a big family with three sons and three daughters. His son, Deepak Joshi, also became a politician. Deepak Joshi served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for different areas in Madhya Pradesh.
Kailash Chandra Joshi passed away in 2019 when he was 90 years old.

Serving as Chief Minister
He served as the 9th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for about six months. This was from June 1977 to January 1978. At that time, he was part of the Janata Party. The Chief Minister is like the head of the government for a state in India.
Member of Legislative Assembly
Before becoming Chief Minister, he was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for a very long time. He was an MLA for eight terms in a row, from 1962 to 1998. He represented the Bagli area in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. An MLA represents a specific area and helps make laws for the state.
