Kaito Yamamoto (山本 海人, Yamamoto Kaito, born 10 July 1985) is a Japanese football player. He plays as a goalkeeper. Currently, he plays for Fukushima United FC.

Kaito Yamamoto's Football Journey

Kaito Yamamoto started his football career in the youth system of Shimizu S-Pulse. A "youth system" is where young players train and develop their skills. He joined the main professional team in 2004. For many years, he was often the second-choice goalkeeper, also known as a "deputy," behind another player named Yohei Nishibe.

Playing for Different Clubs

Yamamoto played for Shimizu S-Pulse for a long time, from 2004 to 2012. During his time there, he played in 62 league games.

After leaving Shimizu S-Pulse, he moved to Vissel Kobe. He played for them from 2013 to 2016, appearing in 74 league matches.

He then had shorter periods with other clubs:

  • In 2017, he played for JEF United Chiba, where he made 2 league appearances.
  • In 2018, he joined Yokohama FC and played in 7 league games.
  • From 2019 to 2020, he played for Roasso Kumamoto, playing in 34 league matches.
  • Since 2021, Kaito Yamamoto has been playing for Fukushima United FC. As of August 2023, he has played in 80 league games for them.

Representing Japan

Kaito Yamamoto also had the chance to play for Japan's national youth teams.

Under-20 National Team

In June 2005, he was chosen for the Japan Under-20 national team. This team competed in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. This is a big tournament for young players from around the world.

Under-23 National Team

Later, in August 2008, he was selected for the Japan Under-23 national team. This team played in the 2008 Summer Olympics football tournament.

Even though he was part of these important teams, Kaito Yamamoto was the reserve goalkeeper in both tournaments. This means he was the backup player and did not get to play in any matches. The main goalkeeper was Shusaku Nishikawa.
