Ruling Maui
Kakae and his brother, Kakaalaneo, ruled the islands of Maui and Lanai together. Their royal courts were located in a place called Lahaina. Back then, Lahaina was known by its older name, Lele.
Kakae's Family
Kakae's wife was named Kapohauola. They had one son, who was named Kahekili I.
After Kakae, his brother Kakaalaneo became the next Moʻi, or ruler. But when Kakaalaneo passed away, Kakae's son, Kahekili I, became the next chief of Maui. He took over the rule instead of Kakaalaneo's own children.
