Kaneville is a small village located in the southwestern part of Kane County, Illinois, United States. It officially became a village in November 2006. The people of Kaneville chose their first leaders in elections held on April 17, 2007.

In 2010, about 484 people lived in Kaneville. It is considered part of the larger Chicago metropolitan area. The village was first called "Royalton," but another place already had that name. So, its name was changed to "Kaneville," named after a person called Elias Kane.

Kaneville is located in the southwest of Kane County. It is in the southeast part of Kaneville Township. The village is about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Aurora. It is also about 48 miles (77 km) west of the Chicago Loop, which is the center of Chicago.
