Karel Plíhal is a talented Czech musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born on August 23, 1958, in a town called Přerov. He is well-known for his folk and jazz music. Karel Plíhal also works as a record producer, helping other artists create their albums.
Even though he didn't study music in school, Karel Plíhal started playing the Guitar when he was 15 years old. He first played in different country-swing bands in Olomouc, like Hučka, Falešní hráči, and Plíharmonyje. He released his very first solo album in 1983. Karel Plíhal has won four Porta folk music awards, which are big honors in Czech folk music. His 2005 album, Karel Plíhal in Olomouc, was recorded live during a concert in his hometown.

Karel Plíhal has written music for many plays at the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc. Some of these plays include Zlatovláska and Cyrano. He has also put music to poems by the famous poet Josef Kainar.
