Karen Zoid (born Karen Louise Greeff on 10 August 1978) is a famous South African rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She is also a composer and a talk show host. Karen Zoid sings in both English and Afrikaans. Many people call her South Africa's "Queen of Rock." Her fans, especially young people, are sometimes called the "Zoid Generation."
Karen Zoid's band members are Jeandré Schultz on guitar, Werner Ainslie on bass guitar, Anton Eloff on keyboards, and Giovanni Serci on drums. She is also known for hosting the TV show Republiek van Zoid Afrika on kykNet. She was also a judge on The Voice SA.

Karen Zoid's Early Life
Karen Zoid was born in Brussels, Belgium. Her father was a South African diplomat, which is someone who represents their country in another country. She grew up in Belgium before her family moved to Johannesburg, South Africa.
In Johannesburg, she went to the National School of the Arts. Later, she studied drama at AFDA. In 2001, she decided to leave university. She wanted to focus all her energy on making music.
Her Music Career and TV Shows
Karen Zoid's first album was called Poles Apart. It was released in June 2001. A song from this album, "Afrikaners is Plesierig," became very popular. It is now seen as a classic South African song. The Sunday Times newspaper even listed it as one of the top 100 South African songs ever.
She released her second album, Chasing the Sun, in June 2003. Her third album, Media, came out in July 2005. In 2007, she released Postmodern World. In 2009, she released Ultimate Zoid, which had her best songs and some new ones. Terms and Conditions was released in 2010. In 2012, she released Zoid Afrika through her own company.
Karen Zoid's music has been played on international flights to and from South Africa. She has also written music for television shows. Two of her songs were in the 2006 movie "Number 10." In May 2008, she won a SAMA for Best Female Solo Artist.
Karen Zoid has performed at important events. She sang at the inaugurations of Presidents Thabo Mbeki in 2004 and Jacob Zuma in 2009. An inauguration is a special ceremony when a new president officially takes office. She also performed at the Nelson Mandela 46664 concert in 2005. This concert helped raise money for HIV/AIDS awareness. In 2012, she performed at the 100-year celebration of the ANC.
Karen Zoid and her band have also performed concerts outside South Africa. They have played in London, Canada, and Dubai. In 2006, they performed at the Dubai Desert Rhythm Festival.
In 2010, Karen Zoid acted in a film called Susanna van Biljon. She also recorded the main song for the movie. In July 2014, her late-night talk show, Republiek van Zoid Afrika, started on kykNet. By early 2016, Karen Zoid became a judge on The Voice, a popular singing competition.
Personal Life
In 2004, Karen Zoid married Don Reineke, who used to be in her band. They had a son in January 2007. The couple later divorced in 2010.
