Kari Elizabeth Byron (born December 18, 1974) is an American TV host. She is famous for her work on the science show MythBusters. She also hosted White Rabbit Project.

Kari was born in California. She studied film and sculpture at San Francisco State University. She joined MythBusters in 2004 and was part of "The Build Team." This team helped test many myths. Kari also hosted other science shows like Head Rush and Crash Test World. Today, she is a co-founder of EXPLR Media, an education streaming service. She is also an artist and has written a book.

Kari's Early Life

Kari Byron was born in the Bay Area, California. She went to Los Gatos High School. Later, she studied at San Francisco State University. She earned a degree in film and sculpture in 1998. After college, she traveled a lot, especially in South Asia. She also worked on many art projects.

Kari Byron was a cast member on MythBusters from 2004 to 2014. She was part of "The Build Team" with Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara. This team worked with Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman. Together, they tested if different myths were true or false.

Kari joined the show after visiting Jamie Hyneman's workshop many times. She wanted to work for his company. Kari and the other Build Team members got bigger roles in the show's second season. At first, it was hard for her to act naturally on camera. But she soon got used to it.

In 2009, Kari took time off for maternity leave. Another person, Jessi Combs, filled in for her. From 2010 to 2011, Kari hosted her own show called Head Rush. This show was on the Science Channel and taught science to teens.

Kari also hosted Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships in 2010 and 2011. She and Tory Belleci appeared on the show Sons of Guns in 2012. They tested weapons and re-tested a myth about propane tanks exploding. Kari left MythBusters in 2014.

From 2011 to 2014, Kari and Tory hosted Punkin Chunkin on the Science Channel. In 2015, they hosted Thrill Factor for the Travel Channel. Kari says she made lasting friendships with the cast and crew of MythBusters.

White Rabbit Project

Kari Byron, along with Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci, hosted a Netflix show. It was called White Rabbit Project. The show came out on December 9, 2016. It explored interesting facts from history and pop culture.

Crash Test World

Kari Byron became the host of the series Crash Test World. This show had six episodes. It started airing on the Science Channel on January 8, 2021.

EXPLR Media

Today, Kari Byron is a co-founder of EXPLR Media. This is a streaming service for education. Kari wants the audience to see themselves in the shows they create.

Kari's Personal Life

Kari Byron married artist Paul Urich in March 2006. They have one daughter. Their marriage ended in March 2020.

Kari used to be a vegetarian. Now, she describes herself as pescetarian, meaning she eats fish but no other meat.

Kari still creates art, including paintings made by lighting gunpowder. In 2018, she published a book called Crash Test Girl. She also created the cover art for another book of poems in 2021.
