Karlos's Early Life and Cooking Journey
Karlos loved cooking from a young age. He was the oldest of four children. He helped a lot at home because his mother had a disability.
Before becoming a chef, he worked for a company called CAF. They made rail cars in Beasain. When he was 17, Karlos decided to study cooking. He joined the Escuela de Hostelería del Hotel Euromar.
He studied there for three years. A great chef named Luis Irizar taught him many cooking basics. Karlos met other future famous chefs there. These included Pedro Subijana and Ramón Roteta.

Since 1978, Karlos Arguiñano has owned a hotel and restaurant. It is located on the beach in Zarautz, Spain.
Becoming a TV Star
Karlos Arguiñano was one of the first TV chefs in Spain. His cooking show is called La cocina de Karlos Arguiñano. It first aired on Euskal Telebista. Later, it moved to Televisión Española and then to ATC in Argentina.
He returned to Spain with Telecinco. Since September 2010, his show has been on Antena 3. On his show, Karlos cooks delicious recipes. He also shares helpful tips, tells jokes, and even sings!
His famous catchphrase is Rico, rico y con fundamento. This means "Tasty, tasty and with nutritional value." His special cooking touch is using lots of parsley. Karlos's sister, Eva Arguiñano, also appears on the show. She usually helps with the dessert section.
