Karrueche Tran (/kəˈruːtʃi ˈtræn/ kə-ROO-chee-_-tran; born May 17, 1988) is an American actress and socialite. She is well-known for her role as Virginia Loc in the TNT series Claws. Karrueche also starred as Vivian Johnson in the web series The Bay from 2013 to 2016. For her work on The Bay, she won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2021 for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress. This made her the first person of Asian Pacific American background to win an Emmy in a lead acting role. She also received two other Daytime Emmy Awards when The Bay won for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series in 2016 and 2017.

Early Life and Education
Karrueche Tran was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up with her Vietnamese mother and her Jamaican godmother. Her father is African-American. Karrueche identifies as Blasian, which means she has both Black and Asian heritage. She also has a younger half-brother.
Karrueche went to Fairfax High School at first. She later switched schools and graduated from Birmingham High School in 2006.

Starting Out: Fashion and The Bay
Karrueche Tran began her career in the fashion industry. She worked as a personal shopper from 2009 to 2012 at Nordstrom. After that, she became a freelance celebrity stylist in Hollywood.
Around this time, Karrueche also started modeling for different brands. She was the face of Lady Crooks for their Summer 2013 collection. She also began working on her own clothing line called The Kill. Karrueche became more widely known after starring as Vivian Johnson in the Emmy award-winning web series The Bay. She was on the show from 2013 to 2016. She won three Daytime Emmy Awards for her work as a producer on the series.
In 2014, Karrueche appeared in a photography book called Love West Coast Girls. That same year, she hosted the BET Awards red carpet and other events. She also co-hosted the BET show 106 & Park. Her TV One movie, The Fright Nite Files, was also shown that year.
Film and TV Roles: 2015 to Present
In 2015, Karrueche was featured in the Spring/Summer lookbook for the French sports brand Le Coq Sportif. She also appeared on the covers of many magazines, including Rolling Out and ELLE.com. Her modeling work led her to sign a contract with Wilhelmina Models LA in 2015.
Karrueche's first movie, 3-Headed Shark Attack, came out in the summer of 2015. She then played the main role in the short film PrXde. She gained more attention for her role as Vanessa Ivy in the web series Vanity. This series was about fashion and was sponsored by Maybelline makeup.
After having supporting roles in A Weekend with the Family and The Nice Guys, Karrueche got a lead role in Only for One Night. All three movies were released in 2016. In the same year, she worked with ColourPop Cosmetics to create a limited edition makeup collection called KaePop.
After leaving The Bay, Karrueche began co-starring in TNT's show Claws in 2017. This TV series is about five different manicurists working at a nail salon in South Florida. The show's creator, Janine Sherman Barrois, chose Karrueche because she could bring many layers to her character.
In October 2019, it was announced that Karrueche had joined the cast of FOX's Deputy. She had a recurring role as Genevieve. In 2020, she returned to The Bay for its sixth season. In 2021, Karrueche won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress. This was a historic win for an actress of Asian Pacific American descent.
In 2022, she became the host of Upcycle Nation, a Fuse TV show. This competition focuses on sustainable fashion, which means making clothes in a way that is good for the environment. In 2023, Karrueche became one of the co-stars of the MTV show Ridiculousness.
In 2024, Karrueche played a new police officer named Regina Smith. This was in the Lifetime movie Searching for a Serial Killer: The Regina Smith Story. The movie was part of Lifetime's "Ripped from the Headlines" series.
Personal Life and Beliefs
Karrueche Tran is a Christian. She has shared that her faith is important to her. She stated, "I pray every day to God to strengthen me as a human and a young lady."
