Kathleen Lake is a beautiful lake in Yukon, Canada. It is located south of the town of Haines Junction. This special lake is part of the amazing Kluane National Park and Reserve. Its native name, Mät'àtäna Mǟn, means 'something frozen inside lake'.

Exploring Kathleen Lake
Kathleen Lake is a popular spot for visitors. It has a day-use area where you can relax. There is also a boat launch if you want to go out on the water. You can even find a campground to stay overnight.
Clear Waters and Unique Fish
Kathleen Lake is famous for its incredibly clear water. You can often see deep down into the lake! It is also home to a special type of fish called kokanee salmon. These are a kind of Sockeye salmon that live their whole lives in freshwater. They do not travel to the ocean like other salmon.
Adventures at the Lake
The lake offers several fun hiking trails. One challenging trail leads to King's Throne. This is a natural, bowl-shaped area formed by glaciers. It offers amazing views overlooking Kathleen Lake. The hike is about 3.1 miles (5 km) long.
How Kathleen Lake Got Its Name
Kathleen Lake was named a long time ago. It was named after a girl from Berwickshire County, Scotland. A police officer named William "Scotty" Hume named the lake. He was stationed nearby from 1900 to 1902.
