Katie Louise McGlynn was born on 16 July 1993. Her hometown is Rochdale, which is in Greater Manchester, England. She grew up in Littleborough. Katie went to Wardle High School. There, she studied drama, English literature, and media studies.

Katie started her acting career in 2010. Her first role was Gemma Gooch in an episode of the TV series Moving On. Soon after, she joined the cast of the BBC school drama Waterloo Road. She played the character Jodie "Scout" Allen. Katie was on the show for two years, from the seventh to the eighth series.

Becoming a Soap Star

After leaving Waterloo Road, Katie joined the ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She took on the role of Sinead Tinker in 2013. Katie played Sinead for six years. Her character had a very sad storyline. Sinead passed away from a serious illness in October 2019. Katie's final appearance as Sinead was in March 2020. This was through video footage.
