Katja Seizinger (born 10 May 1972) is a famous former German alpine ski racer. She was one of the best skiers in the world! She won many races and titles during her career. Katja is known as Germany's most successful alpine skier ever.

About Katja Seizinger

Katja Seizinger was born on May 10, 1972, in Datteln, Germany. She became an amazing alpine ski racer. Katja won three gold medals and two bronze medals at the Winter Olympics. She also earned eleven World Cup season titles. These titles included two overall wins, four in downhill races, and five in Super-G races.

Katja was so good that she won Germany's Sportswoman of the Year award three times! She made history at the Olympics. She was the first person to win two Olympic gold medals in the same alpine speed event in a row. This happened in the downhill race in 1994 and again in 1998. She was also the first woman to successfully defend an Olympic alpine title.

Sadly, Katja got injured in June 1998 while training. She hurt both of her knees. Because of this, she could not compete in the 1999 season. She decided to retire from skiing in April 1999, when she was 26 years old.
