History of Kavanagh
Kavanagh got its start thanks to the railway! The community was settled by people who worked on a part of the Canadian National Railway. This part of the railway was called the "Kavanagh block." The hamlet was named after Charles Edmund Kavanagh, who was a superintendent for the railway.
In the past, Kavanagh had large buildings called grain elevators. These were used to store grain from local farms. However, these elevators have since closed down and been moved to other places.
Kavanagh officially became a hamlet on January 5, 1980. This was declared by Marvin E. Moore, who was the Minister of Municipal Affairs at the time.
