Kaylin Whitney (born March 9, 1998) is an American track and field athlete. She is known for her amazing speed in sprinting events.
In 2014, when she was still very young, Kaylin set some incredible records. At the USATF Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she ran the fastest times ever for young athletes (under 18) in the 100 meters and 200 meters. Her 100-meter time was 11.10 seconds, and her 200-meter time was 22.49 seconds. These times were also the best for her age group in North America and the United States.

Kaylin's Professional Career
Kaylin Whitney has competed in many important races as a professional athlete.
Early Professional Races
In 2015, Kaylin placed fourth in the 200 meters at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Her time was 22.47 seconds, which was very close to the top runners. She also competed in the 100 meters at the same event. In March 2015, Kaylin signed a contract with Nike, a big sports company.
In 2016, she competed in the 2016 United States Olympic Trials (track and field). She placed 16th in the 100 meters and 11th in the 200 meters. These trials are where athletes try to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Olympic and World Success
Kaylin achieved a new personal best time of 50.29 seconds in the 400 meters at the 2021 Olympic Trials. This strong performance earned her a spot on the United States team for the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (which were held in 2021).
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Kaylin Whitney won two medals:
- A gold medal in the women's 4×400 meter relay.
- A bronze medal in the mixed 4×400 meter relay.
She continued her success at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. There, she won another gold medal in the women's 4×400 meter relay.

Kaylin Whitney was a star athlete even before she finished high school.
Setting New Records
Her 100-meter time of 11.10 seconds also became a national high school record. This record was recognized by Track and Field News magazine. She broke records previously held by famous Olympic athletes like Chandra Cheeseborough, Marion Jones, and Angela Williams.
At the time she set these records, her 200-meter time was ranked 8th in the world for all women of any age. Her 100-meter time was ranked 17th.
High School and Youth Career
While she was still a sophomore (second year) at East Ridge High School in Clermont, Florida, Kaylin won the Florida state championship in both the 100 meters and 200 meters in 2014.
Even before high school, Kaylin was an amazing young athlete. In 2012, at just 14 years old, she set American records for her age group in both the 100m and 200m. She broke the youth records of Sanya Richards, who would later become an Olympic gold medalist.
Kaylin trains with a group of top athletes called Star Athletics. Their coach is Dennis Mitchell, who is also an Olympic gold medalist. Another famous athlete in her training group is Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin. In 2014, Track and Field News named her their "High School Athlete of the Year."
