Kaysersberg is a historic town in Alsace, a region in northeastern France. Its name means "Emperor's Mountain" in German. A tall castle overlooking the town shows its important past and how it was once a place of battles.

Kaysersberg is part of a larger area called Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. Until January 1, 2016, it was its own town (called a "commune" in France). Then, it joined with nearby Kientzheim and Sigolsheim to form a new, bigger commune called Kaysersberg Vignoble. Kaysersberg is still the main center of this new commune.

The town was first mentioned in 1227. At that time, Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor bought the castle and ordered it to be made stronger. During the Middle Ages, Kaysersberg was part of a group of ten free cities called the Décapole, and it grew very rich. In 1648, the city became part of France. However, most people living there continued to speak German. From 1871 to 1918, and again from 1940 to 1944, Kaysersberg belonged to Germany.

In 2017, Kaysersberg was chosen as the "Village préféré des Français" (Village favored by the French). This means it was voted the favorite village in France. The people who live in Kaysersberg are called Kaysersbergeois.
