Keith David Boyce was a talented cricketer from the West Indies. He was born on October 11, 1943, in Castle, St Peter, Barbados. He passed away on his birthday, October 11, 1996, in Speightstown, Barbados.
Boyce played in 21 Test matches and 8 One Day International (ODI) matches for the West Indies. His career spanned from 1971 to 1976. He was also part of the team that won the first-ever 1975 Cricket World Cup.

First to Take Eight Wickets
Boyce made history in List A cricket in 1971. Playing for Essex, he took 8 wickets for only 26 runs against Lancashire. This was the first time any player had taken eight wickets in a one-day match. It was a record that stood for 16 years!
Best Test Match Performance
One of Keith Boyce's most memorable moments came during the 1973 tour of England. In the First Test match, he showed his all-around talent. He scored 72 runs with the bat. Then, with his bowling, he took 5 wickets for 70 runs in the first innings. In the second innings, he took an incredible 6 wickets for 77 runs. His efforts helped the West Indies win the match by 158 runs.
Highest Test Score
Boyce's highest score in a Test match was 95 runs, and he was not out. This great batting performance happened in his second-to-last Test match. It was played in Adelaide, Australia, in January 1976.
Success with Essex County Cricket Club
Keith Boyce joined Essex in England in 1966. In his very first match for Essex, against Cambridge University, he had an incredible bowling performance. He took 9 wickets for just 61 runs. This turned out to be the best bowling figures of his entire career. He also scored his highest first-class innings of 147 not out for Essex in 1969.
Recognition and Later Life
In 1974, Keith Boyce was honored as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year. This is a very special award in the world of cricket.
After his cricket career, Boyce returned to his home island of Barbados. He was married twice and had two daughters. He passed away in Speightstown, Barbados, on his 53rd birthday in 1996 due to health problems.
