Kenesaw's Story: A Look Back
Kenesaw started in the year 1872. This was after the Burlington railroad was built through the area. The village was named to remember the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. This was an important battle during the American Civil War.
In 2004, Kenesaw tried a unique idea. The village offered free land lots to people. The goal was to get more people to move there. They also wanted to increase the number of students in the local school. New owners had to build a house within one year. Just three weeks after the offer was announced, seven of the fifteen lots were claimed.
