Kenn Starr's Solo Career
Kenn Starr's connection with Oddisee, who is also a producer in the Low Budget Crew, helped him get a record deal. He signed with Halftooth Records, an independent label in New York.
In early 2004, Halftooth Records released his first single, "If". This song featured famous rappers Talib Kweli and Asheru. The other side of the single, called a B-side, was "Walk the Walk". Both "If" and "Walk the Walk" were later included on a Halftooth Records album called You Don't Know the Half.
This first single led to Kenn Starr appearing on other artists' songs. He was featured on "The Answer" by The Foreign Exchange, "Head High" by Wordsworth, and "Guilty Pleasures" by Symbolyc One and Illmind.
In June 2006, Kenn Starr released a mixtape called The Starr Report. A mixtape is like a collection of songs. This one included many of his songs that had not been released before. It also featured his guest appearances on albums by artists like Supastition, Cesar Comanche, The Foreign Exchange, and Kev Brown. After this, he released another single called "Against the Grain".
