Playing Career
Keon Broxton grew up in Lakeland, Florida. He went to Lakeland Senior High School. After high school, the Philadelphia Phillies picked him in the 29th round of the 2008 MLB Draft. However, he decided not to sign with them. Instead, he chose to play college baseball at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. While playing for Santa Fe, his team made it to the JUCO World Series.
Starting with the Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks chose Broxton in the third round of the 2009 MLB draft. For a few years, he played for different minor league teams. These included the Missoula Osprey (Rookie-level), South Bend Silver Hawks (Single-A), and Visalia Rawhide (High-A).
In 2012, the Diamondbacks sent him to the Reno Aces. This was for the Triple-A National Championship Game. He hit a home run in that game, which helped the Aces win the championship. In November 2012, he was added to the team's main roster. In 2013, Broxton played for the Mobile BayBears in Double-A.
Joining the Pittsburgh Pirates
On March 27, 2014, the Pittsburgh Pirates got Broxton from the Diamondbacks. He played for the Altoona Curve (Double-A) in 2014. Later that year, he moved up to the Indianapolis Indians (Triple-A).
The Pirates called Broxton up to the major leagues on September 20, 2015. He was mostly used as a pinch runner. He had one stolen base and scored three runs.
Time with the Milwaukee Brewers

On December 17, 2015, Broxton was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers. He was one of nine players trying to become the Brewers' main center fielder for the 2016 season. He won the spot and started on Opening Day. On August 21, 2016, he hit two home runs in one game against the Seattle Mariners.
Broxton began the 2017 season as the Brewers' starting center fielder. In July, he was sent down to Triple-A for a short time. He was hitting .218 with 14 home runs and 17 stolen bases. He was also leading the league in strikeouts. Broxton was called back up in August. He ended the season with a "20-20" performance. This means he hit 20 home runs and stole 20 bases. He finished the year hitting .220.
In 2018, Broxton started the season in the minor leagues again. This was because the Brewers had signed Lorenzo Cain, an All-Star center fielder. When Cain got injured in June, Broxton was called back up. He showed strong defense, including two amazing catches that stopped home runs. He also had his third game where he hit two home runs.
Moving to the New York Mets
On January 5, 2019, the Brewers traded Broxton to the New York Mets. He had a tough time with the Mets, hitting only .143. He was moved off the team's main roster in May 2019.
Playing for the Baltimore Orioles
The Mets traded Broxton to the Baltimore Orioles on May 22, 2019. In his very first time at bat for the Orioles, he hit a two-run home run. This happened on May 24 against the Colorado Rockies. Broxton's time with the Orioles lasted about two months. He was moved off the team's main roster in July.
With the Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners picked up Broxton in July 2019. In August, he received a short suspension for arguing with an umpire during a game.
Second and Third Times with the Brewers
On December 8, 2019, Broxton signed a minor league contract to return to the Milwaukee Brewers. He did not play in 2020 because the minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He became a free agent in November 2020.
In August 2021, Broxton signed another minor league deal to return to the Milwaukee Brewers for a third time. He played a few games in Triple-A but struggled at the plate. He became a free agent again in November.
Other Teams
In 2021, Broxton also played for the Minnesota Twins' Triple-A team, the St. Paul Saints. In 2022, he played for the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League. He had a very good season there, hitting 20 home runs. In 2023, he played for the Kansas City Monarchs in the American Association of Professional Baseball. He then returned to the Acereros de Monclova for a second time in June 2023.
Coaching Career
