Kermanshah Province is one of the 31 provinces in Iran. A province is like a large region or state within a country. Its capital city is also called Kermanshah.
This province has had a few different names over the years. From 1969 to 1986, it was known as Kermanshahan. Then, from 1986 to 1995, it was called Bakhtaran. After that, it went back to its current name, Kermanshah.

Facts About Kermanshah Province
Kermanshah Province is located in the western part of Iran. It is known for its beautiful mountains and historical sites. Many people in the province speak Kurdish, which is a local language. Persian is the official language used across Iran.
Population and Area
In 2017, about 1.95 million people lived in Kermanshah Province. The total area of the province is around 24,998 square kilometers. This makes it one of the larger provinces in Iran.
Government and Leadership
The province is led by a Governor. The governor helps manage the province and its different areas. Kermanshah Province is divided into 14 smaller areas called counties. Each county has its own local government.
Languages Spoken
The main language spoken by many people in Kermanshah Province is Kurdish. However, Persian is the official language of Iran and is used everywhere. In some parts, like Sonqor County, people also speak Azeri.
